Martha, in her mid-50s, would like to make herself useful for our project in Fodecariah for 3 months. She has worked successfully in leading positions in France and Germany, and has travelled privately around the world. Now she wants to "get out" to do something more meaningful. Money is not important to her. She now wants to introduce young men and women in Fodecariah to modern business life in 3 to 5 groups. They will learn to use the possibilities on site, for example to produce soaps and children's toys from wood, to process plastic, to convert old tires for the children's playground, to sew stuffed animals & dolls, as well as to organize the distribution beyond their own needs. In concrete terms, a business plan with market analysis and product concept is drawn up and the amount of the required start-up capital is determined. Our club will play client and advance the starting capital. Furthermore a mini-production with quality assurance will be carried out. The sale of the manufactured products will be on local markets. Income and expenses will be recorded and a balance sheet will be drawn up for the business operations of the three months. In a way, this will be a trial run for the planned vocational school in Fodecariah. We are very pleased about their commitment. She will use the rooms built so far for this purpose.

We are very proud of the fact that in our recently opened computer house in Fodecariah (photo right) the "Africa Code Week" organized by SAP took place, which was also only held in 2 larger schools in the Guinean capital Conakri. This underlines the nationwide importance of our efforts to offer computer science lessons in Fodecariah.

Also this year we would like to thank our friends and members from Gießen for the organisation of a benefit concert in favour of the school support project in Fodecariah.

Our President Martine Clemot was invited to the SAP AppHouse in Heidelberg and presented our commitment in Fodecariah at a United Nations Forum on Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDG).

The decision is to launch the Youth Centre and Health Station projects within the next 2 years. Further details can be found in the member area.

A new government has been in office in Guinea since the end of May this year. The new Prime Minister is Kassory Fofana (top right). Even more interesting for us is the new Minister of Education, Mory Sangaré (left). This change creates a certain uncertainty for us, because we had received the approval of the high school from the previous minister. It is not clear whether our admission is still valid under the new Minister of Education.
Here a report of a guinean newspaper

In May this year we had a stand at the SAP Africa event in Walldorf. There, all kinds of objects, clothes, musical instruments and books from or about Guinea and Fodecariah were presented to the interested audience. Martine and Thea also presented our project in Fodecariah on the stage of the event. Beata and Heinz answered questions at the stand and helped with the assembly and disassembly.

On April 14th this year the plenary meeting took place again in the clubhouse of the Pudelfreunde Stutensee. Besides many necessary administrative and content-related topics, we also had a very helpful discussion, moderated by Martina Thum, about all sub-projects of our association (picture left).
As you can see in the picture on the right, there was also something to celebrate: e.g. the recently celebrated birthday of our president Martine Clémot.

After Ethiopia, South Africa and Morocco this was my fourth trip to Africa. I was curious to learn how Guinea differs from these countries, but also from all the countries I know in Central and South America and Asia. Here the full report".

Due to traditional family structures and poverty, the children are usually left without toys. It is a new experience for them to get to know playing with other children and adults as an end in itself and a joy of life.

The long-term goal of our association has always been to provide the children with vocational training so that they can feed their families. After the workshop of 2017 it was the wish of the population to get a vocational school for health. For this reason we visited the vocational school for health in Kankan. The good news is that these two institutions would not be in competition with each other. More about this here: Powerpoint report in French

Also in the workshop of 2017, the wish was expressed to also have a vocational school for modern agriculture. For this reason we also visited the vocational school for agriculture in Kankan. We were positively surprised by the willingness to support us in this project with administrative procedures.More details are available in this PDF

We are very pleased that we can make it possible to finance a further 14 girls' school education for 10 years from October 2017 on.  Read more about promoting girls project

We have received official permission from the national ministry of education of Guinea to open our high school.

The ARE (Association Réussir Ensemble) is a Guinean partner of the French Freinet schools. They have adapted the pedagogical principles of the Freinet, Montessori and Decroly schools to black African conditions.
